Hawks Ridge: Our Blue Ridge Georgia Cabin Review
Hawks Ridge is a step above the average North Georgia cabin: we found it rustic and cozy, but impeccably clean and polished. It’s a great blend of modern and woodsy. And with two bedrooms, two and a half baths, with two master suites split between two floors, it’s roomy enough for a small family or two couples – or a spacious getaway for two.
And while the interior of the Hawks Ridge cabin is luxurious and comfortable, the exterior is equally impressive. A huge, covered, wrap around deck spans two sides of the cabin offering beautiful wooded views and ample space to relax and enjoy the mountain setting. The deck features comfortable rocking chairs and a wood burning fireplace, perfect for unwinding after a day on the trail with a glass or wine or a cold beer. The deck also features a full sized, propane-fueled barbecue grill, perfect for cooking steaks or fish while enjoying the cabin’s outdoor living area. On the cabin’s lower deck, a full sized hot tub is tucked away offering privacy and views of the surrounding forest.
A short drive from Blue Ridge to the cabin offers beautiful and scenic views of the Toccoa River as it meanders along the roadside. Set just uphill from the river, the Hawks Ridge Cabin is nestled on a private wooded lot surrounded by hardwood and evergreen trees, giving the property the feeling of a true mountain retreat.
The cabin’s first floor is open and spacious with generous amounts of natural light pouring in from the front wall of windows. Guests are greeted by double glassed doors leading from the covered deck into the living room.
The living room centers on a beautiful stacked stone wood burning fireplace that climbs high to the lofty ceiling of the cabin. It’s a cozy space, featuring an oversized, comfy leather sofa and upholstered chair with ottoman, perfect for relaxing, reading a good book or taking in the beautiful forested views from the front windows. The living area is complete with flat screen TV, satellite entertainment, and high-speed internet.
Just past the living room is the fully equipped, gourmet kitchen. The elegant kitchen features granite counter tops, double sink, stainless steel gas range and stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and double door fridge and freezer. The kitchen also features a custom-made, high-top breakfast bar with seating for four on wine barrel stools. The kitchen is full of everything needed for an enjoyable stay: silverware, plates, bowls, wine glasses, utensils, pots, and pans. A dining area, with seating for six, is just off the kitchen, complete with a pass-through window to the kitchen for easy serving. Just off of the kitchen and living area is a half bath with stacked washer and dryer perfect for after-adventure cleanup. And an inviting, private screened porch with soft seating and wooded views opens through French doors off of the dining room making the space feel open and spacious.
Finishing off the first floor is one of two master bed and bathrooms. The bedroom features a beautiful, queen-sized, rustic log bed, dresser and plenty of closet space to unpack and settle in. The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a jetted jacuzzi tub, a separate walk-in shower and lots of soft towels.
The second floor of Hawks Ridge features another master suite complete with rustic, log style queen sized bed, dresser, and large closet. The bath boasts a jacuzzi tub for two and separate walk-in shower.
Finishing off the second floor is a cozy reading nook with an overstuffed club chair and faux bear skin rug. It’s a perfect space for curling up and listening to rain on the cabin’s tin roof.
Our favorite nearby adventure spots
The Hawks Ridge cabin is ideal for enjoying the best of the North Georgia mountains. Its proximity to town makes it quick and easy to head to town and explore the historic mountain town.
There’s an abundance of outdoor adventure to be found around Blue Ridge. Check out our favorite hiking trails near Blue Ridge, which include the not-to-be-missed Toccoa River Swinging Bridge, a short hike on the Benton MacKaye Trail to the largest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River. Another nearby family-friendly adventure is the hike to Fall Branch Falls, an easy .5 mile hike to a stunning, cascading waterfall.
For a more challenging adventure, hike the legendary Conasauga River Trail along a crystal-clear river in the Cohutta Wilderness. It’s a splashy, wet, hot-weather-worthy 13-mile hike with 38 river crossings. Or hike the Beech Bottom Trail or Jacks River Trail hike to the thundering, towering Jacks River Falls, one of the most ruggedly beautiful (and remote) waterfalls in Georgia.
